How many wedding cake tiers do I need?
The number of tiers your cake has will depend on the number of servings you need and how much of a centrepiece you would it to be on the day. Below is our general guide to how much cake you will need based on your guest list. It is based on a 1x1” serving of either sponge or fruitcake.
For greater impact we also make dummy layers to create spectacular cakes where only a few tiers of edible cake are needed. Dummies are perfect if you want a 5-tier cake, but only need for example 70 servings, as a fake layer can add drama and extra height, without the need for a filling.

We currently offer the following flavours: Strawberry Pimms, Lemon & Elderflower, BlondieSalted Caramel, Peach & Coconut, Lemon & Passionfruit, Chocolate Heaven
The next cake tasting boxes can be pre booked in the webshop and will be posted out on the weekend of 15/16th May and will contain all 6 Flavours for you to select from. In some circumstances we are able to accomodate changes to the flavours above and we can also make gluten free and Vegan cakes - let us know your requirements and we will see what we can do for you. Please note that the cost of your tasting boxes does not come off your final cake bill.
Types of Cake we make
It's important to choose the right cake for the style of your wedding theme. They are a great way to pull the final details of the wedding together and help create drama and finish of your theme.
From rustic naked cakes, to elaborate sugarpaste and rose covered statement pieces we can design the perfect cake for your big day.
The style of cake will determine the best cake base which can then be left naked, partially covered or completely covered. From there it can then be left plain with just a few details or heavily decorated with fresh or sugarpaste flowers and other elements.
We can finish your cake with a variety of toppers and flowers and its worth having a look through our gallery and instagram page to see the kind of thing we do. At Fuchsia Blooms we can include placement of fresh flowers in our wedding cakes design quotes and we grow many of our own organic blooms ourselves which are food safe and only stored in clean water.
It is worth noting that some flowers are inherently poisonous so must not be used on cakes, we can discuss these with you if needed, and imported flowers - commonly used by many florists, (supplied by overseas flowers farms) are sprayed with very large quantities of things you probably wouldn’t want to eat. This is to control pests, diseases and to promote growth. They also have chemicals added to the water to stop blooming in transit which may the end up on your cake. With this in mind we highly encourage every bride to take advantage of our unique service.
Where we don’t have the required stems available, we will first look to other local organic growers and then throughout the UK to find the right stems. Where there are no organic flowers available which are suitable, we can create alternative beautiful edible flowers made from sugar paste & edible wafer paper.
In the event you choose to use your own florist for cake decorations, please be aware that Fuchsia Blooms will not be responsible for structural failure of the cake after delivery has been made or any illness resulting from tainted food.
